Google and YouTube are two of the most popular online services in the world. But with so many people using them, it can be hard to keep track of which account is which. If you want to unlink your Google and YouTube accounts, here’s how:
- Log into your Google account.
- Click on “My Account” in the top left corner of the screen.
- Under “Your Profile,” click on “Linked Accounts.”
- Under “YouTube,” click on the three lines next to “YouTube Account.” (If you have more than one YouTube account, you’ll see a list of them.)
- Click on the blue “Unlink” button next to your desired YouTube account name. (If you have more than one Google account, you’ll see a list of them.) ..
When trying to log into a Google account, you cannot use an existing YouTube username although the log-in will still work. This is because Google wants you to use your primary or business email for all of their services and not a secondary YouTube email address. It is quite easy to unlink the two accounts as long as you are logged into your Gmail account from an existing Google+ page first.
Step 1: Navigate to the Google+ Settings Page. This is located at the top right corner of your screen and you can either click on your face image or press Ctr+F (Mac) or Ctrl + F (Windows) simultaneously. A search bar will appear at the top; type “accounts” into it and hit enter.
Step 2: Logout of your Google+ account and then log back in. Then, click on the “sign out” link at the bottom left corner of your screen. A pop-up will appear asking you if you want to remove all connections between YouTube, Google+, and Gmail. Click confirm and you are now unlinked from each other; do not forget this step or else it will be impossible to create a new Gmail account! If you were currently logged into one of these accounts then just follow steps 1 & 2 as indicated above. This is how I successfully removed my linked account using method 1 with both accounts already linked beforehand; I hope that you
Step 3: Update your YouTube channel with a new username or lose subscriber history forever! If you do not want to lose the effort that you put into building up your subscription base on YouTube, it is advisable to add an alternate email address and then change your username altogether. This won’t work if you have too many subscribers or friends as Google will still recognize your account and refuse to let you use a different user name under that same ID.
Step 4: Pick a new name and email address to use on YouTube. It does not matter what you pick as long as it is unique and easy to remember, but make sure that it works well with your existing Google account. Google will send you an email asking for confirmation when you change the username; click confirm in order to approve this action. This link will allow you to edit your channel settings; do so and then add a valid email address that is different from the one that was already linked to your YouTube account (see step 1). Note that this same email can only be used once without having to create a new one in case you decide later on that you want a fresh
