Xbox One users can now add friends by using the Xbox Live Gold service. To do this, you will need to create an account and then sign in. Once you have signed in, you will be able to find the Friends list on the left-hand side of the screen. From here, you can add friends by selecting them from the list and clicking on the Add Friend button. After adding your friend, you will need to confirm their addition by clicking on the Confirm Add Friend button.
