If you’re ever feeling like your Facebook account is being used for something other than your true interests, there are a few steps you can take to help. First, make sure that you’re logged in to your account and have the Facebook app open. If you’re not sure whether or not you’re logged in, click on the three lines in the top right corner of the main Facebook screen and enter your name and password. If everything looks good, click on the “delete account” button at the bottom of the page. If everything doesn’t work as expected, please let us know and we’ll do our best to help.

Step Two: Click on the “Account” option present at the bottom of any page you view in Facebook. After doing so, click on “Privacy Settings.” When this page loads, you will be able to see a link called “Deactivate Your Account” (See image below).

Step Three: Clicking this link will prompt you with two options – Deactivating your account or Deleting your account. You may select either one and then follow the guidelines that display after selecting either option. While deactivation means that your profile is still active but only invisible to other people, deleting the fake profile gets rid of everything associated with it.

Step Four: After choosing either option, users are taken to a page where they can enter their password once again and then click on the respective button. This step seems a bit redundant, but is actually required since Facebook does not allow you to deactivate your account using someone else’s computer or an unauthorized device. Once that is done, your Facebook page will be deleted immediately and permanently in 20 days.

Step Five: After 20 days, the profile you specified will be permanently removed. Once this is done, your friends will stop seeing activity associated with it and they’ll no longer have the option of sending you friend requests.

If you have a personal account and delete it by mistake, there is no way to retrieve the data. Your photos, videos, status updates (if any) and everything else will be permanently erased without any chance of getting it back.

However, if your Facebook account is compromised due to hacks or other reasons, then certain methods can help in retrieving the hacked profile. For more information about how this works refer to: How Do I Know If My Facebook Account Has Been Hacked?
