Once you’ve deleted the account, you’ll need to re-login to your account and confirm that you want to delete it.
Okay, ladies (and gentlemen). Let’s get started! The first thing you need to know is that TikTok is owned by ByteDance, which also owns another hilariously named app like TikTok called Mixi. ByteDance, which was founded in 2012, has Chinese funding and briefly had a market cap north of $50 billion before it was eclipsed by Alibaba last year. According to its website, the company makes money from advertising and selling an app-locking feature for 3 yuan per month ($0.47 USD).
So there you go, our first big clue: TikTok is meant to be used in Asia and they don’t care who’s watching because they’re not getting paid to watch your content or sell ads against it in the U.S., so what’s the big deal? But if you still want out of this social media circle jerk yourself, here are some options.
How can I delete someones TikTok account?
This is not how to delete your own account. Deleting your own account will cause permanent loss of all information you have posted and all followers on the app.
I’ve noticed a lot of people have been asking this question lately, so I thought I might as well answer it. According to TikTok’s previous policy, if an account has been inactive for one year or more, they’ll permanently remove it from their servers. However, one change that was made shortly after TikTok became part of ByteDance in May 2018 was that “inactive” now applies only to accounts with no videos authorized within 90 days. The new policy applies to both old and new users’ accounts and doesn’t allow deactivation at all.
This means that if you are wanting to delete your account, the only way you can do it currently is by contact TikTok support and requesting for them to remove your account permanently. If they’re being at all shady with you or don’t want to give clear answers about anything, just tell them what happens when an account isn’t deleted within 90 days of no authorized videos (an email will be sent notifying the user that their account will be removed) and that’s how they’ll know why you’ve contacted them.
You will get a response from them within 72 hours, but they can take up to 2 weeks depending on how busy their staff are and how many other requests they’re getting.
