If you have an account with JobHat, it’s important to delete it if you want to stop receiving job offers and updates. To do this, follow these steps:
- Log in to your account.
- Click on the “delete my job hat” link in the top right corner of the main screen.
- Enter your password and click on the “delete” button.
After we have received your request for account deletion, all of your information will be changed so that it can no longer be accessed by anyone on the website. We also add a “hidden” field to all deleted accounts which will alert us whenever someone attempts login as that username in case someone is trying to access information from another site/service (hackers do exist). After this has been done for you, we will delete your JobHat account.
We like to think that if you request the deletion of your account right now or in 10 minutes from now, the same rule goes for both cases. The site is updated once every 30 minutes (the time frame varies slightly based on workload), so deleting your account within those 30 minutes may mean that it takes a little longer to have the information removed because sometimes this process can’t be done instantly due to technical difficulties. In any case though, after an hour or 2 at most if you email us with your username and reason for deletion, everything should have been taken care of by then. If not, please email us again.
After your account has been deleted, if a user would try to find you via our search function or from viewing the list of users, they will see that your username is no longer in use. It will simply say “User Deleted.” If someone then went on to try and search for your email address, all emails listed are also deleted as there is already no record of them existing since we change the format of them before deletion so that they cannot be linked back to another site/service. Your profile picture is also taken down when you request deletion of your account because it becomes useless with you no longer being in the system anyway.
