If you’re anything like most people, you probably don’t use Square very often. But if you do, it’s probably because you need to pay someone in person. Well, that’s about to change. Square is shutting down its payment processing service on July 31st. That means if you still have a Square account, it’s time to delete it. Here’s how:
- Log into your Square account and click on the “Settings” button in the top right corner of the screen.
- Under “Account Settings,” click on “Deactivate Your Account.” You’ll be asked to confirm your decision.
- Once you’ve confirmed your decision, your account will be deactivated and all of your data will be deleted. ..
To completely delete your account:
Step 1: Go to squareup.com/account/settings and log in (or sign up if this is your first time)
Step 2: Select Delete Account from the menu on the left under Your Profile. You’ll be prompted with some safety checks, after which you will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to proceed.
Step 3: Enter the given password, and click continue. You can then review any pending charges or pay them as normal, and you’ll have an opportunity to get in touch with support if there’s anything else you’d like to do.
Important Note: Please note that Square will only delete your personal information (e.g. your credit card info, profile picture). If you used a company email address to log in when creating your account, we cannot delete it for you from our end – please contact whoever manages that email domain directly for assistance with addressing the issue from their side.
