Echo dot is a popular chat app for iPhone and Android that lets users communicate with others without having to leave their devices. However, if you’re using Echo Dot on your iPhone or Android device, you may be wondering how to deregister it. To deregister Echo Dot, first open the Echo Dot app and sign in. Then, click on the “Deactivate” button at the bottom of the main screen. Once Deactivated, your Echo Dot will no longer be able to connect to other devices and will no longer be able to use its features.
If you are trying to connect a different device or want to re-register the original one, here is how you would do that. You would disconnect it from your account in the Alexa app by tapping on the connected devices icon in the top left corner of the home screen – scroll down and tap on your device name – then press & hold the action button until it flashes amber (this will cause it to unregister). Then say “Alexa, connect my device”. That’s all there is to it!
Reset the dot by pressing and holding down the microphone mute button until the LED turns amber (several seconds). You should then say “Alexa, disconnect my device” or “Alexa, stop listening” to confirm that it is deregistered from your primary account.
To connect with a different account, you must first delete all of the information between Alexa app on your mobile phone (Settings > Connected devices) and then follow instructions above to register using a new account name followed by “Alexa, connect my device” when prompted. Note that if you have multiple dots registered under this new account they will not be de-registered automatically but as long as you are switching the first one only you will be able to follow this procedure.
To disconnect the dot from an account, press and hold down the action button on top of it til amber color comes up then say “Alexa, Disconnect my device” or something similar. Then have that same user go into their settings within Alexa app (under devices) – tap on your connected devices at top left and scroll down to select Echo Dot along with all others to refresh list. Tap on Echo Dot name again and you can now add a new user for each dot added by tapping + at bottom right of screen as if creating a new device without having to set up Wi-Fi again etc..
