Xbox controllers have a tendency to drift in different directions, sometimes unintentionally. If you notice your controller is drifting to the left or right, it’s time to take it apart and fix the issue. To fix Xbox controller drift, first remove the battery cover and unscrew the four screws on the back of the controller. Then, remove the two joysticks and two buttons from the controller. Be sure to keep these parts aside for later. Now that your controller is free from its cords, you can start by fixing its drift. First, use a hairdryer to heat up the plastic parts of your controller so they can start moving more easily. Then use a plunger or vacuum cleaner to suck out any air bubbles that may have formed on top of your controllers’ metal surfaces. Once all of your controllers’ metal surfaces are clean and free from bubbles, reattach them using their original screws and screws (if needed). Be sure not to over-tighten these screws as they may cause your controllers to become unstable and fall off your desk or shelf.
