Facebook is a great way to stay connected with friends and family, but it can also be a tool for hiding events you’re interested in. Here are four ways to keep your Facebook activity private:
- Use a private profile. This is the easiest way to keep your Facebook activity private. If you only want friends and family to see your posts, create a private profile. Anyone who wants to follow you will have to request access from you.
- Use a secret account. If you don’t want anyone except close friends and family to see your posts, create a secret account. Anyone who wants access must request it from you directly, and only after verifying their identity through Facebook or another means of verification such as an email address or phone number.
- Use privacy settings. You can control who can see your posts by using privacy settings on your account. You can choose which friends and groups can see your posts, as well as which posts they can see (and how long they can view them). You can also choose whether or not people who aren’t friends or followers of yours can post about you on Facebook at all.
- Use the “hide post” feature on the post screen of your Facebook page.“If someone shares something on their Timeline that’s important to them but doesn’t want everyone in their network seeing it, they might use the ‘hide post’ feature,” says Lisa De Pasquale, social media strategist at Bazaarvoice.“They’ll be able to select which of their followers (friends and followers) are allowed to see the post, as well as when it will expire.” ..
