With so many different ways to create your own video, people often have questions about how to reply to a comment on a TikTok video. Here’s some quick pointers on how to do just that!
How to reply to a comment
Tap the comment to open it.
You can reply directly from the comment or tap the arrow at the bottom of your screen to go back to your video and add a new reply.
To see any existing replies, you can swipe up on the comment section.
Using the built-in text chat
You can use the text chat to reply to a comment made on your TikTok video. It’s easy to find, just click on the little chat bubble next to your profile picture.
To start chatting, tap on the text chat bubble and a conversation window will pop up. A list of all the people that have sent you a message will also be presented in case you want to send them a reply.
If you want to talk privately with another user in your feed, tap on that person’s icon and start a private conversation!
Using the inbox
The inbox is the most important part of the app. It’s where all of your comments, likes, and views are stored. If you’re watching someone else’s video, you can also reply to their replies, which will appear in your inbox.
If you’re watching a video that has received more than one comment, tap Reply below the comment once you’ve found it. You can type what you want to say in the text box or choose from a few preset responses such as: Like, Love, Favorited or Disliked. You can also draw on the screen or record a short video message and upload it to your story for others to see!
If someone has replied to your comment before you’ve had the chance to reply back, please don’t worry! On the left side of your screen there’s a list of other people who have commented on your post. Tap on any of these comments and click “Reply” to get back into the conversation.
