If you’re ever having trouble resetting your laptop to factory settings, here’s how to do it.

  1. Open the laptop’s lid and remove the battery.
  2. Locate the power cord and plug it in to an outlet.
  3. Open the laptop’s case and remove any screws that hold the case together.
  4. Lift out the battery and place it in a safe place.
  5. Place the motherboard back in its original position (if it was removed).
  6. Reattach all of the screws that held the case together before removing them again (leave some unscrewed).
  7. Replace the battery and screw back into place, making sure not to overtighten anything!
