If you’re like most people, you probably check your Instagram account every day to see how many likes and shares your posts have. But if you’re like me, you also want to see how many of those shares are from people who follow you on other platforms. To do this, I recommend using the app Instagram’s share tool. This tool allows you to see which posts received the most shares on other platforms (Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn) and compare that against your own posts. Here’s how to use the share tool:

  1. Open Instagram and sign in.
  2. Click on the three lines in the top left corner of the main screen (the ones with a green checkmark next to them). This will take you to a page where you can see all of your posts from this day (or yesterday if it’s a weekday).
  3. Scroll down until you find the post that interests you and click on it. This will take you to a page where you can see all of the shares for that post on other platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn).
  4. If there are any differences between what was shared on these three platforms (for example, more shares were shared on Facebook than Twitter or LinkedIn), then those platforms will be listed first in parentheses after your post’s platform of origin (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn).
  5. To compare what was shared on these three platforms against your own post, just click on one of those platforms in parentheses and then click on “Compare.” This will give you a table with all of the data for that particular post as well as all of the data for all of your posts from this day or yesterday if it’s a weekday.
