If you’re like most people, you probably use eBay on your phone. But if you’ve been getting a lot of unwanted email from eBay, there’s a way to stop it. First, make sure that your eBay account is updated with the latest security settings. This includes setting up two-factor authentication and adding a password to your account. Next, go to your email settings on your phone and turn off “Email notifications for new auctions.” This will stop eBay from sending you notifications about new auctions until you turn them back on. Finally, if you want to be extra sure that eBay doesn’t send any more emails to your phone, sign out of your account and then sign back in. This will reset all of your account’s settings and should prevent any future emails from coming through. ..
That’s funny. My current opinion regarding smartphones or tablets… they’re really great. However, one of their biggest failings in my mind is that you can’t set them up the same as your computer — and an IMAP based email client like gmail does exactly what you asked about. With gmail (and most IMAP based clients), you choose your own primary (“From” ) email address, and then specify your phone number as a secondary address (along with an email address on the SMTP server if you like). The messages sent to that primary account are then dumped into the IMAP folder for that account and synced.
However, iOS doesn’t support exchange or IMAP based tasks… it only supports POP based tasks. And ebay is one of those annoying vendors who insists on acting like POP is the only option rather than simply supporting multiple protocols for use in different situations/environments. If only they embraced standards!
So I agree with you, mobile devices need more options when it comes to choosing which primary “From” address gets used. Just since they don’t have keyboard shortcuts on them doesn’t mean they can’t do what other clients can.
Tami says: Reply from [email protected] . You have received 4 emails from this seller (Blahblah) while you were away in the last 3 months. This is a reminder that there are active items under your watch list and you can no longer continue shopping on Ebay until all of those items have been completed or won. Reply from [email protected] .
