Final Fantasy XIV is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMO) developed and published by Square Enix. It was first released on November 15, 2009, in Japan and on February 14, 2010, in the United States. The game is a sequel to the original Final Fantasy XIV, released in 2005. The game is set within the world of Eorzea, a large continent that includes several islands. Players can explore the world and interact with NPCs to complete quests or side with one of the five races: humans, dwarves, elves, dragons, or yaks. The game has an open-world design that allows players to explore at will. The story of Final Fantasy XIV revolves around two characters: Gilgamesh and Noctis Lucis Caelum. Gilgamesh is a powerful king who has been imprisoned on an island for many years by his enemies. Noctis is a young prince who helps Gilgamesh escape and leads an attack against his enemies. In the end of the game, Noctis defeats all his enemies and returns to save Gilgamesh from execution.
